Tom Munro is a noted fashion and celebrity photographer. English by birth, Tom moved to New York in 1990, majoring in photography at Parsons School of Design. He then went on to serve a 3 year apprenticeship with arguably the world’s most respected fashion photographer, Steven Meisel.
In 1997 Tom embarked on his own career as a photographer, immediately in demand and achieving overnight success and recognition from his early editorial shoots for British Vogue and Harpers Bazaar US. During his 19 year career to date, Tom has contributed to many of the worldʼs most prestigious magazine publications including Vanity Fair, Vogue US, Vogue Italia, LʼUomo Vogue, V Magazine and W Magazine.
Tom’s dedication and passion towards his craft has attracted some of the fashion and beauty industries’ most prestigious names, including Giorgio Armani, Brioni, Davidoff, Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Givenchy, Hugo Boss, Lancome, Revlon, Shiseido, TAG Heuer, Tom Ford and Yves Saint Laurent.
Over the years Tom has photographed for movie studios Warner Brother’s and 20th Century Fox and some of the music industries most iconic figures, such as Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Justin Timberlake.
Tom has directed music videos for Madonna, ‘Give it to me’ and ‘Turn Up the Radio’, as well as films ‘Die Another Day’, ‘Human Nature’ and ‘Justify My Love’. In addition Tom shot the Tour Book for Madonna’s ‘Sticky and Sweet’ World Tour.
With the support and backing of LVMH Moet Hennessy, Tom had a major exhibition and book release in both Los Angeles & Paris of his extensive celebrity archive which includes many highly acclaimed Hollywood actors, Dustin Hoffman, Hugh Jackman, Kate Winslet, Leonardo Di Caprio, Marion Cotillard, Scarlett Johansson and Tom Cruise, to name but a few.
More recent years have seen a growing demand for Tom Munro the ‘director’, with films and commercials for such prestigious clients as Armani ‘Si’ fragrance with Cate Blanchett, Tom Ford Lipstick as well as various commercials for Max Factor with Gwyneth Paltrow and Candice Swanepoel.
After two decades based in New York, Tom returned to live in England early 2015, dividing his time between London & the South Dorset Coast, as well as frequent work trips throughout Europe, New York, Los Angeles and anywhere else in the world that he might be in demand.
